A la manière de Chicago

Trio Nouveaux Siècles

The first track of the album could be compared to a camera-focusing. First, like a blurred image, the trio pretends to accompany Jelly Roll Morton’s famous hit, The Crave. But then, the whole record seems to be making a striptease before our very eyes, as an old pullover which is unravelling while the depth of field is reducing. Subliminal message: there is no point in reviving the saturated New Orleans style. What’s the use of playing in equal measure what has already been performed previously? However, the past can be revisited as a source of inspiration and fantasy to create something clearly innovating. That is really the stakes of this original, profound and cheeky opus.

To be continued…
